Activity 4.1e
Procedure
1.
View the 01_inventoruserinterface video.
2.
Answer the questions below.
a. What
are the four Inventor base environments and file extension names?
i.
____part________________________
ii.
___assembly_________________________
iii.
___drawing_________________________
iv.
__presentation__________________________
b. Label
the features of the user interaction images below.
|
|
c. Label
the Assembly environment below.
|
d. Label
the navigation control image below.
1.home view 2.viewcube 3.navigation bar |
3.
Video the video 02_inventorfilemanagement.
4.
Answer the questions below.
a. Label
the images below with the steps needed to set up a project without Libraries
|
b. What
is the active project in the images below?
|
c. How
would the PLTW Project 3 be made the active project?
you can click on pltw project 3 then click apply
Conclusion
1. Why
is using the vocabulary presented in the tutorials important?
2. Why
is it important to properly select the project each time a model is created?
Activity 4.1g
1 |
1b. I used additive composition for this model because the extensions are easier to make with adding
2 |
2b. I used subtraction composition because the niches in the object were easy to create with subtraction
3 |
3c. Subtraction was definitely more efficient for this object because the shapes are hard if you use addition, but they are much easier if subtraction is used.
4 |
4b. I used addition composition for this model
c. I think that using subtraction composition would have been much easier to do because the shapes are very different in the model.
Conclusion
1.
Why is it important to consider efficiency when
planning your method of creation before beginning to model an object in CAD?
2.
How can the information provided in the browser
of the CAD software help you compare the efficiency of two different methods of
modeling the same object?
The CAD modeling can determine how much time it takes or how easy it is to CAD model it versus sketching it.
Activity 4.1 Puzzle Cube Challenge Conclusion
Conclusion
1. Why
is it important to model an idea before making a final prototype?
2. Which
assembly constraint(s) did you use to constrain the parts of the puzzle to the
assembly such that it did not move? Describe each of the constraint types used and
explain the degrees of freedom that are removed when each is applied between
two parts. You may wish to create a sketch to help explain your description.
3. Based
on your experiences during the completion of the Puzzle Design Challenge, what
is meant when someone says, “I used a design process to solve the problem at
hand”? Explain your answer using the work that you completed for this project.
4. How
does the gender of the puzzle solver affect solution time? Be specific and provide
evidence to support your answer.
5. How
does the age of the puzzle solver affect solution time?
a.
Make a specific statement related to the rate of
increase or decrease of solution time with respect to age. Provide evidence
that supports your statement.
b.
Write an equation using function notation that
represents puzzle solution time in
terms of age. Be sure to define your
variables and identify units.
c.
Predict the solution time on the first attempt
of a child who is 3 years of age. Show
your work.
d.
Predict the solution time on the first attempt
of a person who is 95 years of age. Show your work.
e.
Do these predictions make sense? Why or why not?
f.
What is a realistic domain for the function?
